While PS5 exclusives might seem like an endangered species of titles, the console has finally amassed a fair few. Sure, some might eventually see a PC release, but in terms of consoles, Sony’s latest offering is the only place to play them.

And yet, as is the case with any console, some of the exclusives are better than others. That’s why we’ve taken the time to rank every PS5 exclusive from worst to best based on our own experiences with them.

The PS5 Pro is officially on its way, and the price for the newest iteration on Sony’s current console is steep. Fortunately, there are some notable visual improvements that come with the console’s $700 price tag, and we’ve compiled five ways your games will look better on PS5 Pro.

A Higher Frame Rate During Fidelity Mode

PS5 Pro Price & Reaction

The price of the PS5 Pro will be $699.99 / £699.99 / €799.99 / ¥119, 980 – as revealed at the end of its Technical Presentation by Mark Cerny. If we had to sum up our general feelings about that, we’d mirror the below X post in absolute astonishment at such a high price tag:

Sony has announced a Technical Presentation that will stream on Sept. 9. This isn’t a State of Play and will only be nine minutes long. With all this information in hand, it certainly sounds like we’re getting information on an upcoming PS5 Pro model. We don’t exactly know what to expect, but we do have a wishlist of things we hope it includes.

PS3 Backwards Compatibility

In February, Sony filed a new patent related to Backward Compatibility Testing. Though the pattern doesn’t directly mention the PS3, it seems to hint at it. After all, Sony is sorely lacking compared to the Xbox’s extensive backward compatibility features. Due to this patent, though, it is entirely possible a PS5 Pro could feature PS3 compatibility on a hardware level.

Visions of Mana on PlayStation 5

There were several points during my playthrough of Visions of Mana where it was frustratingly close to being an amazing game.

For brief moments, every part of it would click into place in a way that allowed me to see exactly what Square Enix and Ouka Studios wanted to convey. Its gameplay and narrative finally clicked into place, and its visuals and aesthetic helped it to feel like a grand return for the Mana series.

Gundam Breaker 4 on PS5

I was pretty sure the series was done after New Gundam Breaker was poorly received in 2018. It was a bad start when that was the first Gundam Breaker title with an actual Western release. However, much to my surprise, Gundam Breaker 4 was revealed during a Nintendo Direct in February. Fortunately, this release didn’t disappoint, and I’ve finally been given the next mainline Gundam Breaker game I had been holding out hope for.

Instead of being part of the larger Gundam universe, the Gundam Breaker games focus on the Gunpla aspect, encompassing all the model building. In this universe, all gameplay is part of an arcade game. None of the games connect aside from that central theme, but Gundam Breaker 4 provides a bit of evolution to the formula.

With each generation of video game consoles, games continue to get bigger and better. Worlds are teeming with detail and continue to stretch beyond the horizon. Character models are intricately detailed, and the sheer amount of quests and content for players to work their way through has crept up into the hundreds of hours to complete. The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak on PS5

The Trails series is something of a marvel at this point, as this release marks the 11th release of the mainline series that began in 2004. As with all arc introduction games, this is a possible starting point for new players. However, it’s not quite a highly recommended one. As amazing an entry as this is, it is still a piece of a much grander puzzle that deserves to be experienced from an earlier point.

Trails Through Daybreak presents a new piece of the Zemurian puzzle and takes players into the Calvard Republic for the first time. While there are plenty of returning faces, the main focus is on Van Arkride, who runs a business (called Arkride Solutions) for those needing some grey-area help. Van is referred to throughout the game as a ‘Spriggan,’ which means someone who will take on any job, regardless of legality. For this reason, he is at odds with the Bracer guild and Calvardian police.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is the latest Monster Hunter game to be ported to PlayStation after an original PC and Nintendo Switch release. Though it might share the Monster Hunter name, its gameplay structure is markedly different from the mainline series. Because of that, whether you’re a newcomer or a series veteran, it might be hard to decide whether this game is actually for you. Since the Urzikstan map was released for Warzone in late 2023, fans have been waiting for ranked to return. It was most recently mentioned in February in a blog post about Season 2 on the Call of Duty site. It was light on details; all it had to say was that it would come later this year. After three months of silence, while fans have been asking on Reddit and Twitter, there is finally a new update.

Call of Duty-focused outlet Charlie Intel shared in a tweet that Activision promised Ranked was still coming in a call with creators. Tales of Kenzera: ZAU on PlayStation 5

The Metroidvania genre is full of gems that have strong gameplay foundations, keeping players engaged in whichever world they find themselves in, and incentivizing them to keep coming back for more. That said, not many of them feature stories that touch upon more poignant themes that require more emotional investment from the player. This is where Surgent Studios’ Tales of Kenzera: ZAU shines brightly, even if there are several issues that dim its brilliance along the way.

With the central core of the story being about the love of a father and son, players will join Zuberi, a child who is now mourning the loss of his father, in the distant future. That sense of loss is profound, and the only way to placate the unnerving swell of emotions is through a book written by his father, of a shaman called Zau who is facing the same predicament in the lands of Kenzera. Yet, the healer is able to strike a deal with the God of Death, Kalunga. By overcoming three lost ancestral spirits, Zau wants the deity to bring his Baba back from the dead.

Players should have had enough time to enjoy Rise of the Ronin’s excellent story and gameplay by now. That means it might be time to decide what to play next. PS Plus May 2024 Release Date

PS Plus Essentials free games are consistently released on the first Tuesday of the month. The first Tuesday of May happens to be the 7th, so May 7th is most likely when the PS Plus May freebies will drop.
